Women affiliated with the SPD in the upper parliament chamber publicly advocate for acts of violence towards females
In Oberhausen, Germany, the Working Group of Social Democratic Women (AsF) Oberhausen is bringing the important issue of Violence against Women to the forefront on November 26, 2022. The group, led by Dr. Ute Jordan-Ecker, will set up an information booth at Sterkrade-Mitte at 10:00 AM, under the motto "Violence doesn't come in a bag".
The campaign aims to provide information, support resources, and raise public consciousness about Violence against Women and Domestic Violence. The Oberhausen SPD Women are using this event to express their solidarity against violence against women and encourage victims to seek help.
Dr. Jordan-Ecker, the Chairwoman of the Oberhausen SPD Women, has stated that the Oberhausen SPD Women want to support a self-determined life for women. She also emphasized that the high number of victims of domestic violence necessitates a strong stand against such violence.
The information booth will offer a variety of materials on topics such as Domestic Violence, stalking, and Violence against Women. The materials will be distributed along with bagels, symbolizing the initiative's message that violence is often hidden and not immediately visible, just like something carried in a bag.
This initiative is part of the Oberhausen SPD Women’s ongoing efforts to combat violence against women and to support victims. The group plans to continue the annual action against domestic violence, initiated by "TERRE DES FEMMES" since 2001, with the theme "Live free from violence".
The Oberhausen SPD has been displaying the "Live free from violence" flag at its business premises as a sign of solidarity since joining the annual action against domestic violence initiated by "TERRE DES FEMMES".

In cases of rape, sexual harassment, and sexual assault in partnerships, the victims are 98.1% female. It is crucial that initiatives like the one by the Oberhausen SPD Women continue to raise awareness and provide support to victims.
