In a landmark ruling, a Thai court has sentenced 52-year-old cosmetic surgeon Xeping Chaiyasan to four years in prison for running a fraudulent cosmetic surgery scheme known as the “Face Off” scam. The conviction comes after Xeping was found guilty of public fraud, inputting false data, and misleading advertising[1][2][3].

The case, which centered on Xeping's promotion and arrangement of facial surgeries between August 2017 and August 2018, has shed light on the serious legal repercussions for fraudulent practices in cosmetic surgery within Thailand[3].

One of the victims of Xeping's deceptive practices is Yupin Saenkam from Roi Et. Ms. Yupin paid 368,500 baht for a facelift, only to suffer severe disfigurement, disfiguring scars, chronic pain, numbness, itching, and a distorted face[4][5]. Her ear was deformed, resulting in a witch-like appearance[6].

The court imposed the maximum applicable sentence for Xeping's offences, which were part of a single scheme. Xeping was found guilty under Sections 341, 343 of the Criminal Code, Section 14(1) of the Computer Crime Act, and the Consumer Protection Act[7].

It is important to note that this is not the first conviction for Xeping. The Criminal Court has previously handed down prison sentences to Xeping and her associates in several other cases involving similar fraudulent cosmetic procedures[8].

Currently, Xeping is applying for bail while filing an appeal. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and honesty in the cosmetic surgery industry, and the consequences that come with deceiving patients.

Both Xeping and the plaintiff's lawyer, Phinyophat Chittawan, appeared in court during the sentencing hearing[9].
