Woman from Kazakhstan lodges complaint against inDrive driver

Rewritten Article:

A chilling tale unravels on the social media platform Threads, as a user shared an unsettling experience with a ride-hailing service, inDrive. As reported by Liter.kz, this narrative sends shivers down the spines of many, due to the sketchy behavior displayed by the driver.

The story goes like this: A young woman called for a ride but was put on edge when the driver phoned and inquired an unusual question, "Are you alone?", repeatedly. This question, repeated numerous times, instilled a sense of unease in the passenger.

Upon arrival of the vehicle, the situation took a turn for the worse. An unknown man was already in the car, raising serious concerns about safety, as no such information was provided in the app. The girl decided to decline the ride, fearing for her safety.

The driver, unsurprisingly, didn't seem too pleased, according to the complainant, and muttered in Kazakh, "Aytymghoi sağan" (which translates to "I told you so"), adding to her unease.

Expressing her concerns, the user petitioned inDrive to take action against the driver for violating safety standards. Moreover, she questioned the presence of the unaccounted individual in the car and urged better driver verification and access controls to the platform. Interestingly, the car that arrived was not the one stated in the app; a Changan, instead of a Cobalt.

The tale sparked a wave of anger and concern, causing social media to buzz with calls for improved safety protocols in the passenger transport sector:

"Ditch inDrive, stick to Yandex."

"Change your username, I have my son's name set. They didn't even ask why a woman is getting in, not a man. When getting into a taxi, say your name over the phone and say you're calling back to tell how it went, they can watch the map to see where you're going."

"Terrible, you can tell what they had planned, no need to guess."

The editorial team of Liter.kz reached out to inDrive's press service for a statement.

"We're fully aware of the issue and are currently investigating the situation internally. We've reached out to the passenger for their feedback and assurance that such behavior contradicts our platform's rules. The driver in question has been temporarily suspended pending further investigation. We take passenger safety extremely seriously and prized feedback is always valued. Our drivers are expected to adhere to stringent safety standards, and any violation results in account termination."

The company added that if a ride ever feels uncomfortable or safety concerns arise before the trip initiates, users can cancel the ride and leave a comment, which will then be reviewed by the support service.

Passengers can also share their rides with loved ones or utilize the SOS button to connect with emergency services. Furthermore, users can file complaints in various app channels, such as the support chat accessible through the "Shield" button during the ride or via the "Safety" section in the side menu, according to inDrive. After the ride, users can provide a low rating and leave a comment, which will also be reviewed.
