Volunteerism, under the leadership of Queen Margherita, steps up to the challenge

Ready, Set, Gaming for a Cause: On June 7th, 10 am to 1 pm, eleven affiliates will engage in a series of entertaining challenges at the Regina Margherita Children's Hospital, as part of the event, "Play: Regina's Game Day!" Organized by Fondazione Forma, this extravaganza unfolds on dual fronts - within the hospital wards and Piazza Polonia, now fondly referred to as "Santa's Square."

Expanding Horizons

Last year's one-of-a-kind gathering aimed to bridge connections between all associations inside the Regina Margherita Hospital's wards. Not beating around the bush this time, the organizers have thrown the invitation to all aid-providing associations that cater to at-risk individuals. The ultimate ambition? To create a boundary-free, citywide volunteers games extravaganza.

According to the Fondazione Forma president, "Last year, we wanted to create a central hub for all associations actively serving our hospital. Now, we're extending this platform to include any organization that assists vulnerable individuals."

A Loaded Schedule

Teams inside the hospital will test their wits in a Memory Race, shoot their shot in the Bottle Shooting, and keep their spins steady in the Spinning Tops Arena. Meanwhile, Piazza Polonia will be decked with fun and games such as the Puzzle, Fishing, Three-Legged Race, Tin Can Shooting, Sponge Pass, Ring Toss, Round Rubik's Cube, an intriguing event called the Ulaop Challenge, and a rowdy Noise Competition.

Special adjudicators include Le Principesse in Corsia Association, SEA (Acrobatic Superheroes), Magic Jolly, BombettaBook, and even a charming St. Bernard dog.

Going Green and Getting Creative

All games were thoughtfully crafted by volunteer Paolo Gaido, using eco-friendly materials sourced from Leroy Merlin and reclaimed components. To add a touch of artistry, an artistic project is underway in collaboration with Eduiren and the Sant3 Molest3 collective. Each team will receive a net and recycled fabric scraps to create a striking letter on a frame. By the end of the day, these letters will come together to form a grand collective sentiment.

Playing for a Purpose

The participating associations include Aabc, Abio, Aic, Avo, Aitf, Casa Giglio, Cvp, Forma, Neuroland, Manzoni People, Specchio dei Tempi, Time2, Ugi, and Vip. Everyone is welcome to jump aboard the games train: simply turn up at the square to join one of the teams. A scrumptious snack will be served mid-morning, generously provided by Mara dei Boschi, Forno di Orazio, Acqua Valmora, and Conad.

This event emphasizes the power of recreation in cultivating moments of normalcy and joy within the hospital environment, reaching far beyond the young patients and embracing the wider Turin volunteering community.

Science and health-and-wellness will be promoted through the Memory Race and the Spinning Tops Arena, as they are among the games designed to test memory and coordination, fostering mental and physical well-being. Fitness-and-exercise will also be a part of the day's activities, with the Bottle Shooting and potentially the Three-Legged Race allowing participants to engage in physical challenges.
