Uncertain substance in a classroom triggers breathing issues for 14 individuals, mildly injuring one student at FW Hannover.
On the morning of Friday, September 19, 2025, the Hanover fire department responded to an incident on Kirchröder Straße in the Kleefeld district. The call came in around 09:30 AM, with the regional control centre alerting an ambulance and the fire department to the scene.
Upon arrival, the fire department found an unknown liquid in a classroom. As a precaution, additional rescue services, a senior physician, and a large rescue vehicle were also alerted. The identity of the liquid remains undetermined despite measurements and analyses.
During the operation, a student in a vocational school classroom reported respiratory irritation. In total, 14 people, consisting of 11 students and 3 teachers, were examined by the rescue services. Fortunately, hospital transport was not necessary, and only one person was classified as lightly injured.
The fire department remained at Kirchröder Straße until approximately 11:30 AM with around 30 personnel and several vehicles. Any further danger could be ruled out. The school operation was not affected during the incident.
