According to a fire department spokesperson, three adult patients succumbed to the fire, as rescue operations were carried out. The injured included two critically injured, thirteen seriously injured, and twenty-eight lightly injured, although some reports suggest only one critical case.
Parts of the hospital had to be evacuated due to the fire. Injured patients received treatment in the emergency room or were transferred to neighboring hospitals. The fire department successfully extinguished the blaze after approximately 20 minutes, and operations have since concluded.

Firefighters on the scene reportedly extricated victims through turntable ladders, portable ladders, and corridors utilizing escape hoods.
The Marienkrankenhaus, one of the largest denominational hospitals in Northern Germany with around 600 beds, treated approximately 93,000 patients annually.
