Three Organizations Launch ASF Family Fund for Angelman Syndrome Care in UK

Three leading organizations, the Angelman Syndrome Foundation (ASF), Angelman UK, and the Canadian Angelman Syndrome Society (CASS), have joined forces to launch a financial assistance fund for families caring for Angelman syndrome patients in the UK. The ASF Family Fund aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals with this condition.

The fund has already made a positive impact, with recipients like Rhiann receiving an iPad to aid communication, and Oceano benefiting from a special needs stroller for improved mobility. Primary caregivers or legal guardians can apply, providing proof of financial need and two cost estimates for each request. Successful applicants can use the funds for essential items such as communication devices, travel costs to ASF clinics, safety equipment, or adaptive play equipment. Notably, the fund offers up to $5,000 per family, with a three-year wait before reapplying.

Applications are open twice a year, in April and October, with responses provided by the end of May and December respectively. The fund is a collaborative effort between ASF and Angelman UK, with the next application opportunity not yet specified.

The ASF Family Fund, a joint initiative of the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, Angelman UK, and the Canadian Angelman Syndrome Society, is dedicated to supporting families affected by Angelman syndrome. By providing financial assistance for essential equipment and services, the fund aims to improve the lives of individuals with this condition and their families.
