Solingen Welcomes New Healthcare Advocacy Group

In a significant move for the city of Solingen, a new Working Group of Social Democrats in Healthcare (ASG) has been established, with Holger Höhmann elected as its chairman. The election took place on Thursday evening and was a unanimous vote.

Holger Höhmann, a long-time member of the SPD and the commercial director of the LVR Clinic in Bedburg-Hau, was the driving force behind the creation of the local ASG group in Solingen. The decision was made by the SPD executive board at the end of last year, with the aim of prioritizing healthcare issues politically.

Höhmann's role as chairman involves leading this group within Solingen's SPD to advocate for health policy priorities locally. He emphasized the importance of the healthcare industry as a job creator in Germany and discussed distribution struggles within the sector.

The formation of the ASG in Solingen aims to ensure that economic status does not determine access to healthcare. Sabine Vischer-Kippenhahn, co-chair of the Solingen SPD, was present at the election, highlighting the importance of healthcare in Solingen's city, given its existential significance for many people.

Birgit Zeier, district mayor of Wald, and Uli Preuß, council member, were elected as deputy chairpersons of the ASG board. Oliver and Sigrun Backhaus, Dagmar Küster, and Corinna Fassbender were also elected as members of the board. No fewer than 20 eligible SPD members gathered to form the local group of the ASG in Solingen.

Significant healthcare facilities in Solingen include the municipal clinic, the specialist clinic Bethanien, and the clinic of PTV. The ASG's focus on prioritizing healthcare issues politically is expected to have a positive impact on these facilities and the overall healthcare system in the city.

The ASG in Solingen is the oldest nationwide SPD working group in the city. As chairman, Holger Höhmann brings decades of SPD membership and 15 years of experience as a city council member of Langenfeld to the table. His leadership is expected to be instrumental in advocating for health policy priorities locally.

The importance of healthcare policy within the SPD was emphasized by the state chairman of the ASG, Waldemar Radtke, at the election. The ASG in Solingen is a testament to the SPD's commitment to ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for all citizens.
