Schwickardi Family Sells Senior Care Homes to hesena Group

Elmira Schwickardi, CEO of the Schwickardi senior care homes, has announced a significant change. After much deliberation, she has decided to sell the Palais Dorndorf and Haus Hermesgarten facilities in Thuringia to the hesena group. The handover, set for January 1, 2026, marks the end of an era for the Schwickardi family, who founded the homes with a mission to provide dignified and respectful living spaces.

Walter Schwickardi established the facilities with a vision to create places where elderly individuals could live with dignity and respect. His wife, Elmira, took over the company after his passing in 2011 and has now decided to pass the torch to the hesena group. The new opportunities that arise with this handover include the potential to expand care services to include digital advancements, ensuring the facilities remain at the forefront of senior care.

The hesena group, led by CEO Sascha Saßen, aims to preserve the essence of what the Schwickardi family has built. They plan to maintain a 'home remaining home' atmosphere while providing high-quality care. The handover has been carefully prepared to secure the future of the facilities and preserve the achievements made under the Schwickardi family's leadership. The Schwickardi family sought a partner that shares their values and aims to maintain the dignity of the facilities, making the hesena group an ideal fit.

The official takeover of the two Oldenheim facilities, Seniorenpark 'Palais Dorndorf' in Dorndorf and 'Haus Hermesgarten' in Kaltennordheim, by the Volkssolidarität Bad Salzungen is set for October 1, 2025. As the Schwickardi family hands over the reins to the hesena group on January 1, 2026, they do so with confidence, knowing that their life's work will continue to provide dignified and respectful care to the elderly community in Thuringia.
