Saudi Arabia is grieving over the death of the "Sleeping Prince," who had been in a coma for 21 years.

Prince Al-Waleed bin Khalid bin Talal Al Saud, affectionately known as the "Sleeping Prince," **passed away on Saturday, July 19th, 2025,** following nearly 20 years in a coma resulting from a car accident in London when he was just 15 years old.

The tragic accident in 2005 left Prince Al-Waleed with severe brain injuries and internal bleeding, from which he never fully recovered. Despite extensive medical care at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, he remained on life support, with his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, consistently refusing to withdraw care, holding onto hope for his recovery.

Over the years, the health of Prince Al-Waleed had been a topic of interest across Saudi Arabia and the region. His condition, symbolising patience, faith, and family devotion, inspired widespread empathy both in Saudi Arabia and internationally.
