SARS cases have experienced a 29% decline over the past week.
Updated News:
Turns out those sneezes and coughs are on a downward spiral in the Sverdlovsk region. According to the Rospotrebnadzor press service, incidents dropped drastically by nearly a third last week. Just 20,000 cases were registered, down from the previous week and up slightly from the typical multi-year average.
Interestingly, kids made up over half of the cases. Rhinovirus was the top villain, but influenza viruses and seasonal coronaviruses were also spotted.
The ILI rates exceeded the regional average in Nev'yansk, ZATO Svobodny, and Pervouralsk. Yekaterinburg saw 9,700 cases, down 24% from the week before but still up 15.7% from the average multi-year level.
Now, here's a interesting bit—seasonal influenza viruses appear to be the main culprits causing ILI in the region. Decreased transmission, effective public health interventions, and natural epidemiological fluctuations could all be contributing factors.
