Regensburg: VKKK East Bavaria enters into partnership with the Jahn social initiative

In a significant development, German football club SSV Jahn Regensburg has formed a partnership with VKKK Ostbayern, a non-profit organisation that supports children affected by cancer and physical disabilities. This collaboration, called "Jahn Social: Bridges for Regensburg", is part of SSV Jahn's ongoing social initiative and marks a step towards creating more opportunities for children in need in the Ostbayern region.

VKKK Ostbayern, founded in 1989 in Lappersdorf, offers a comprehensive range of support services to families, including medical and nursing care, legal and psychological counseling, and financial aid. Their central facilities, the Parents' House and the VKKK Aftercare Center, are located in Regensburg and Zeitlarn, respectively.

The partnership between the two entities focuses on giving children and families hope and concrete support during difficult times. By emphasising integration through sport as an important element towards recovery and a healthy life after cancer, they aim to offer unforgettable experiences for children from the Ostbayern region.

One of the key projects under this partnership is "Jahn Besuch", where children with illnesses and disabilities meet SSV Jahn players, offering uplifting experiences. The collaboration also involves integration efforts that utilise sport as a stepping stone for children to regain health and social inclusion.

SSV Jahn Regensburg's social initiatives have been in operation for over ten years, focusing on providing support to children, people with disabilities, socially disadvantaged individuals, and seniors. By partnering with VKKK Ostbayern, they strengthen their commitment to particularly vulnerable groups in the region.

In addition to the "Kick for Kids" benefit football tournament, VKKK Ostbayern regularly organises leisure activities for children affected by illness. This partnership aims to support selected actions of VKKK Ostbayern in promotion and implementation.

This collaboration leverages the synergy between VKKK Ostbayern’s medical and social expertise in supporting ill and disabled children, and SSV Jahn Regensburg’s regional influence and sports-based social initiatives. Together, they are creating a bridge connecting vulnerable children with regional social support through the unifying medium of sport.

The partnership with VKKK Ostbayern aligns SSV Jahn Regensburg's sports influence with the health-and-wellness focus of the non-profit, as they strive to provide science-backed care for children affected by illness and disabilities. Through projects like "Jahn Besuch" and leisure activities, they aim to integrate sports into the recovery of children in the Ostbayern region, fostering a healthier and more inclusive community.
