A disturbing incident took place at Surat Thani train station on June 15, where a 57-year-old man named Yutthaphon was brutally beaten by two security guards. The incident, which occurred around 9:45 pm at Phunphin police station in Surat Thani province, left Yutthaphon with severe bruising all over his face and body, requiring four stitches for a cut in his head.

According to reports on Facebook, Yutthaphon was waiting for a late-night train home after attending a family dinner. He was dropped off at the station by his 16-year-old son. An altercation ensued between Yutthaphon and the guards, leading to the assault. The family learned of the incident the following day and noticed his injuries during a video call.

The security company that employed the guards has reportedly accepted responsibility and paid 60,000 baht compensation to Yutthaphon's family. However, the family filed a complaint with Phunphin station, but were informed that the security cameras had malfunctioned, and the incident went unrecorded.

In response to this incident, the governor has ordered maintenance checks on security cameras at all train stations to ensure proper surveillance and accountability in the future. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) governor also ordered a detailed investigation into the incident.

If the investigation finds the guards were at fault, the SRT will also penalise the security contractor. Pictures showing Yutthaphon's injuries and an apology from the guards were included in the Facebook post. Another post on the same account on Monday thanked authorities for following up the case.

It is likely that an official investigation would be initiated by the Surat Thai City Police to ascertain the facts of the assault. Security camera footage at the train station would be reviewed as part of evidence collection to establish what happened. Compensation claims might be pursued by the victim or their representatives, depending on the outcome of the investigation and applicable laws on liability and abuse by security personnel.

For accurate and updated details on this specific incident, monitoring local news outlets or official police statements in Surat Thani would be necessary, as no direct information was found in the current search results. It is hoped that this incident will lead to improved safety measures and accountability at Surat Thani train station and other transportation hubs in the area.
