Quarantine Imposed in Bolshie Yarki Village Amid Animal Rabies Outbreak
A quarantine has been enforced in Bolshie Yarki village, Tyumen region, due to an outbreak of animal rabies. The measure aims to contain the spread of the disease and protect both humans and animals.
The quarantine, imposed by local authorities, includes a ban on capturing wild animals for export to zoos and exhibitions. Additionally, markets, exhibitions, auctions, and other animal gatherings within the affected settlement are prohibited. Export of domestic and wild animals that could potentially carry the disease is also restricted.
This is not the first time Tyumen has faced a rabies outbreak. From the late 1990s to the mid-2000s, rabies was primarily reported in wild animals such as foxes and wolves. However, the region was officially declared rabies-free around 2012.
The quarantine in Bolshie Yarki village will remain in effect until further notice. It will only be lifted after official confirmation that the settlement is free from rabies. Local authorities urge residents to cooperate and follow the guidelines to ensure the safety of the community.
