Dr. Vasan Ramachandran, a prominent figure in vascular medicine, has been honoured with the prestigious Louis and Artur Lucian Award for his significant contributions to the field of circulatory diseases. The award, which carries a cash prize of $60,000, recognises Ramachandran's groundbreaking work on blood pressure screening and progression.

Ramachandran, who serves as the Jay and Louise Coffman Professor at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), has made substantial strides in understanding the progression from borderline to high blood pressure. His research provides valuable guidance for primary care physicians in blood pressure screening.

A key achievement of Ramachandran's work is the lowering of the threshold for high blood pressure in the U.S. His insights have significantly impacted healthcare practices. As the chief of the section of preventive medicine and epidemiology in the department of medicine at BUSM, Ramachandran continues to lead research that advances our understanding of circulatory diseases.
