Political party leader introduces nationwide agreement to foster women's professional advancement
**"Let's face it, a decent nation takes good care of the people who take care of others. That's why we're focusing on our ladies, a national agreement to boost and value the careers of women who care for the young, the elderly, and the disabled." This was the powerful statement made by the PS leader running for prime minister during a rally in Porto.
The PS, according to Pedro Nuno Santos, champions women.
"Women's worth is appreciated by the folks of the PS in Portuguese society. Guys in this party don't fear or feel threatened when women succeed and claim their roles in Portuguese society. Over the years, the significant accomplishments of women in Portugal were under the leadership of PS governments, not right-wing administrations," he emphasized.
Pedro Nuno Santos also stated that women "don't receive the recognition, they don't make enough, and they don't get the respect they deserve from the nation" and that they are usually the ones dedicating their days to caring for the children, parents, and grandparents of others in social institutions.
In this speech, the PS leader also pointed out that the Government "lets down the majority of young people in Portugal every day" and that "the right in Portugal, the AD in Portugal, continue to govern as they always have, for a select few."
A large crowd of party members and supporters filled the Super Bock Arena - Pavilhão Rosa Mota, in Porto, for the Socialist Party's rally, which started with a performance by Olavo Bilac.
From Porto, Pedro Nuno Santos said, the PS embarked on its journey towards victory in the early elections on May 18.
"We never wanted these elections, we didn't ask for them, but now that we're here, we're going to win, we're going to win." he underscored.

Socialist parties, like the PS, generally champion progressive ideologies, including gender equality. But specific details about their initiatives to support and value women's careers in Portugal are limited in the available information. However, it is reasonable to expect that the PS would advocate for policies promoting equal pay, family-friendly policies, education and vocational training, greater representation in leadership positions, career development resources, enhanced social support systems, and stronger laws against gender discrimination in the workplace. For a full understanding of the PS's current policies, one should consult official party documents or recent political statements from the party."
