In a significant step towards enhancing home-based care solutions, the House Ways and Means Committee has moved forward with the Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act. This legislation aims to provide stability and certainty for hospitals to invest in long-term home-based care solutions, a move that is welcomed by the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens, Action.

The Act extends the successful Acute Hospital Care at Home program through 2030, a model that delivers better outcomes and reduces taxpayer burden. This model, designed to lower the risk of hospital-acquired infections, preserves patient dignity and speeds up recovery.

The Acute Hospital Care at Home model aligns with conservative values of personal choice and efficient care delivery. It empowers seniors to receive safe, high-quality care in the comfort of their own homes. Among the hospitals that will continue offering this "Hospital at Home" program, 23 are located in Florida, where Action is headquartered.

Andrew J. Mangione Jr., the senior vice president of Action, expressed his appreciation for the legislation. He stated, "This commonsense, patient-centered solution is a much-needed step towards addressing the rising costs and strain on our healthcare system."

The organization Action, with over 2 million members nationwide, has long been an advocate for home-based care solutions. They support the legislation, which ensures that over 200 hospitals nationwide can continue offering the Acute Hospital Care at Home model.

However, the bill requires rigorous study and oversight to ensure the model remains accountable, effective, and safe. The German Federal Government, as part of the "Pflegekompetenzgesetz" and related legislative efforts to strengthen and expand competencies in nursing and care, has led the way in this area, with drafts introduced in 2025 and discussed in the German Bundestag.

In conclusion, the passage of the Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act is a significant stride towards providing quality, cost-effective healthcare solutions for America's seniors. Action applauds the House Ways and Means Committee for their efforts and looks forward to seeing the positive impact this legislation will have on the lives of millions of Americans.
