Feeling Frisky on Two Wheels: The Unexpected Pleasure of a "Velogasm"
Have you ever stumbled upon the term "velogasm"? Caught off-guard, we certainly had. Thanks to a recent survey conducted by JOYclub, an exclusive dating and sex community, it appears that 11.8% of bicyclists (out of 2,255 surveyed) have experienced this delightful surprise.
Riding a bike can do wonders for your health, confidence, and now, your love life – if you're one of the lucky ones. So, what on earth is a "velogasm"? Essentially, it's an orgasm achieved while perched on a bike saddle. And it's more prevalent than you might think!
Casual Encounters and the Unexpectant Thrill
Unsurprisingly, "velogasms" tend to be more of a spontaneous occurrence than a planned event. Only 6.6% of the participants reported having them "often," while 41.6% experience them "occasionally." Over half (51.4%) have merely "rarely," if at all, encountered this unique pleasure.
The Effects of Different Bikes and Terrain
It turns out that mountain bikers hold the highest chances of experiencing this unexpected pleasure – nearly one in five have (19.8%). Terrain also plays a significant role, with gravel paths invoking the most velogasm experiences (29.5%).
Sexologist and JOYclub's Communications Manager Judith Langer offers a plausible explanation: "59.3% of those caught off guard by their velogasm also reported having fantasies accompanying them." The sensations can vary greatly, from short and intense to long and penetrating – even a bit dangerous.
The Mundane Joyride for Most
However, for many, cycling is bereft of any erotic excitement. 43.5% of riders haven't experienced it, while 50.6% feel "occasionally" or "rarely" excited while pedaling. Only about one in sixteen (6%) cyclists claim to feel "often" or "always" stimulated. Yet, like in bed, excitement alone does not guarantee an orgasm. About one in six (16.9%) women have attempted to capitalize on the moment in question and reach the ultimate goal – on two wheels, that is.
Why a Bike Can Trigger an Orgasm
While the scientific community has yet to dive deep into the realm of velogasms, several factors can contribute to the phenomenon.
- Physical Stimulation: The combination of repeated pressure and friction from the saddle, alongside the vibrations caused by uneven terrain, can stimulate sensitive areas and lead to increased arousal.
- Emotional and Sensory Appeal: From the invigorating wind against your skin to the beautiful views, cycling can elicit feelings of freedom, excitement, and pleasure, heightening arousal.
- Endorphins: The release of endorphins during cycling can induce feelings of relaxation and euphoria, further increasing arousal potential.
Remember that the likelihood of experiencing a velogasm can vary greatly among individuals. The variables that lead to this intriguing encounter are unique to each person. And while extensive research on the topic is scarce, the allure of the velogasm persists.
