In a concerning revelation, it has been reported that out of the 85,806 nurses registered with the Nepal Nursing Council, only 25,000 are currently employed within the country. This leaves a staggering 60,806 nurses either unemployed or working abroad, according to the Nepal Nursing Council.

The government health organization employs 12,000 nurses, as stated by the health ministry. However, the exact number of nurses working in the private health organization remains unclear, with the government admitting a lack of sufficient statistics on this matter.

Kabita Aryal, the community nursing administrator, has claimed that approximately 13,000 nurses are working in the private health organization. Despite this, there are more than 2,500 vacancies in the private health sector, as per the ministry.

The unemployment rate for nurses in the country stands at a disheartening 66%. This alarming figure is a result of the discrepancy between the number of registered nurses and those employed. The Nepal Nursing Council reports that 7,000 nurses are working abroad, leaving 57,806 nurses unaccounted for within the country.

It is worth noting that this is the first time official statistics of nurses have been collected, according to the ministry. The exact number of nurses working in the private healthcare organizations in Nepal is not specified in the available search results.

The Nepal Nursing Council has registered a total of 85,806 nurses, but only employs 25,000 and reports 7,000 working abroad. This leaves a significant gap of 57,806 nurses, raising concerns about the nursing workforce in the country.

The situation underscores the need for comprehensive and accurate data on the nursing workforce, both in the public and private sectors, to address the unemployment crisis and ensure the provision of quality healthcare services to all.
