Initiative to Boost Regional Public Health System in Yakutia
In Yakutia, a Comprehensive Health Strategy Unveiled
The Republic of Yakutia has announced a new program aimed at bolstering public health. The initiative involves several key measures, including organizing events that promote health, prevent chronic non-infectious diseases, and foster a healthy lifestyle.
According to the Ministry of Health of Yakutia, the program will strive to diminish the consumption of alcohol and nicotine-containing products. It also includes the establishment of corporate and municipal programs for health promotion, and the organization of mass events to encourage physical activity.
Furthermore, endeavors will be made to create alternative leisure activities, establish health-promoting infrastructure for residents, such as bicycle paths, workout zones, sports facilities, recreation areas, health corners, and more.
Program goals include the replication of projects like "Healthy Legacy", "Health Trail", "Sober Village", "Health Lifestyle Deployment". Various initiatives promoting increased physical activity are planned, including "Ready for Labor and Defense", "Sport is Normal Life", "Walking Man", "10,000 Steps to Life", "Aging All Ages", "Russia's Ski Trail", Sports and Health Decade, International Sports Day, International Nordic Walking Day, International Yoga Day, Physical Culture Day, All-Russian Walking Day.
Municipal health-strengthening programs are already operational in 36 municipal districts of the republic. Corporate health preservation programs have been launched in 70 organizations, including major enterprises like PАО "Yakutskenergo", TFOMC, GU "MFC" RS (Y) Yakutsk, AO "Sakhatransneftegaz", PAO "Yakutskaya TEP", AO "Yakutsky Khlebokombinat", AO "Polar Airlines", AO "Sahenergo", OJSC "Yakutdorstroy". Health care has been implementing projects such as "First Aid School", "Healthy Environment", and "Health Lessons" for several years. Lectures, actions, and quizzes on healthy lifestyle topics are regularly held for the public.
The Medical Prevention Service, consisting of eight departments, 28 offices, 11 health centers, and five mobile health centers, will be responsible for conducting medical examinations of Yakutians, preventing chronic non-infectious diseases, and offering education. In 2021, nearly 29,000 people, including over 7,000 children and over 12,000 rural residents, underwent comprehensive examinations and training in the basics of a healthy lifestyle.
This regional health program is part of the national project "Long and Active Life," initiated by President Vladimir Putin, and the decree of Yakutia’s head, Aisen Nikolaev, "On Strategic Directions for Strengthening Public Health and Developing the Healthcare System in Yakutia."
The new Comprehensive Health Strategy in Yakutia aims to reduce chronic diseases and medical conditions by implementing measures that encourage a healthy lifestyle, prevent chronic non-infectious diseases, and foster health and wellness. The strategy also includes efforts to create alternative leisure activities and promote physical activity as part of the "Sport is Normal Life" and "10,000 Steps to Life" initiatives.
