Turbocharged Through Adversity: Eric Dane's Unyielding Acting Journey
Ever since the TV doc of "Grey's Anatomy" became a patient himself, life's been a rollercoaster ride for Eric Dane (52). In April, he bravely announced he's battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), an incurable neurological disease. Yet, this grim prognosis doesn't deter him from his passion – acting. He boldly declared in a recent chat with "E! News", "I'm gonna keep grinding until the wheels fall off. It keeps my mind sharp. It moves me forward, which is vital right now."
In this candid interview, Dane opens up about his life with the rare degenerative disease and why he refuses to let it steal his professional dreams. "I thrive when I'm on set. Sure, there have been some hiccups, but overall, I'm doin' fine. My mood is usually pretty good, and that's what matters in the end."
The past week saw Dane, a proud father of two, discussing these health hiccups on "Good Morning America". It's been about one and a half years since his symptoms first surfaced, leading to the loss of control over his right arm. He worries that he might lose mobility in other areas too. "My right side's totally fried. I'm down to my last operating limb – my left hand, which might not be functional for much longer," he shared, expressing concerns about his legs as well.
In the Spotlight Again: Eric Dane's Return to "Euphoria" after ALS Diagnosis
Defying all odds, Dane graced the set of "Euphoria" for Season 3, just a few days after unveiling his ALS diagnosis. Married to the lovely Rebecca Gayheart (53), Dane remained positive and optimistic in his conversation with "E! News": "This ain't the end of the line for me."
