AIIMS Bilaspur: A Beacon of Healthcare and Education in Himachal Pradesh

AIIMS Bilaspur, nestled in the picturesque state of Himachal Pradesh, is rapidly expanding its facilities and services, making it a significant player in the realm of healthcare and education. Since its inception, the institute has grown exponentially, now boasting 728 inpatient beds and treating over 30,000 patients every month.

The institute has already achieved several milestones, including its first successful kidney transplant and robust emergency facilities equipped with advanced equipment like MRI and ventilators. Academically, AIIMS Bilaspur is home to 620 students, including 100 MBBS seats, and offers 17 broad specialties, although some faculty positions remain to be filled.

In terms of infrastructure development, the institute is working tirelessly to improve patient amenities. Ongoing projects include the construction of a rest house on campus, the proposed 132 KV sub-station for enhanced power supply, and an approved LPG gas pipeline to ensure better energy resources. Traffic management and stray dog issues around the campus are also being addressed in collaboration with local authorities.

Contrary to some rumours, AIIMS Bilaspur is not in a pre-opening phase but is already admitting students and delivering healthcare services. There is no specific future "opening date" mentioned as the institute is actively operating and expanding as of mid-2025.

During a recent felicitation ceremony for Covid Vaccination Workers, Member of Parliament and National BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda highlighted the success of AIIMS Bilaspur. He praised the leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, who has been instrumental in making Himachal Pradesh a role model for other states in fields such as education, health, and social services.

The operational status of AIIMS Bilaspur was announced during this ceremony, approximately three years after the foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state has also achieved 100% target of the second dose of Covid vaccination.

Moreover, Himachal Pradesh is fully prepared for any possible third wave of corona, with the capacity of beds in hospitals increased from 3804 to 8765, and plans to increase it to 11 thousand. The state is also contributing to the global fight against Covid-19 by supplying vaccines to about 50 countries, having administered over 127 crore doses as of the article's publication.

In conclusion, AIIMS Bilaspur is an active and expanding healthcare and academic institution in Himachal Pradesh, offering significant patient care and medical education without any pending "opening" date. The institute's growth and success are a testament to the state's commitment to progress and its leadership's vision.
