In a move to strengthen international cooperation on honey-related issues, the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association and the German beekeeping organisation, DIB, have both joined Copa-Cogeca's Honey Working Party.

Dr. Urška Ratajc, the representative of the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association, has been appointed to this prestigious position. With this role, Dr. Ratajc will represent Slovenian beekeepers at the European level, contributing to discussions and policies related to honey production and the beekeeping industry.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ellman Torsten, the president of the DIB, has taken on a vice-presidency in Copa-Cogeca's Honey Working Party. His involvement marks the addition of a German representative to the group, signifying the expansion of international cooperation.

The Cooperative Union of Slovenia (ZZS) made the appointment of Dr. Ratajc, while the DIB's participation in Copa-Cogeca's Honey Working Party is a result of Mr. Torsten's leadership.

This collaboration has been successful, particularly on key issues related to honey origin labeling. The Slovenian Beekeepers' Association has previously collaborated with Copa-Cogeca through the Cooperative Union of Slovenia, and the fruitful cooperation between the parties is expected to continue.

Copa-Cogeca, an international organisation that unites European farmers and agricultural cooperatives, has a specialized working group focusing on honey. The addition of Dr. Ratajc and Mr. Torsten to this group broadens the representation of European beekeeping organisations, ensuring diverse perspectives and comprehensive discussions on honey-related matters.

The parties look forward to working together to achieve significant advancements for beekeepers, contributing to the sustainability and growth of the honey industry in Europe.

Dr. Urška Ratajc is also the Head of the Scientific Committees of the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association's website, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.

This development is a testament to the commitment of these organisations to advocacy and collaboration in the beekeeping sector, aiming to address challenges, shape regulatory or market strategies, and promote the interests of European beekeepers within the European Union framework.

Dr. Urška Ratajc, as the Head of the Scientific Committees of the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association's website, will potentially contribute valuable insights to the discussions on health-and-wellness matters related to honey and bees. As the representative of Slovenian beekeepers, Dr. Ratajc's role in Copa-Cogeca's Honey Working Party might also extend into dialogues associated with fitness-and-exercise, considering the impact of honey consumption and beekeeping on overall health.
