Singer Miley Cyrus recently revealed that she contracted a severe infection in her knee during the filming of her album's accompanying video on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
"I caught something," Cyrus divulged on the late-night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live." In the music video for her song "Walk of Fame," the 32-year-old artist reportedly rolled herself over the famous sidewalk at night.
Upon sharing her experience, she explained that the infection left her in the ICU by Thanksgiving in November. "My knee started disintegrating in the patellar area," she recounted. Upon examination, a physician asked the cause of the intense infection on her kneecap, to which Cyrus admitted her "dirty act" of rolling on the ground.
Reflecting on the hospital experience, Cyrus said, "When a doctor looks at you and says 'Ew,' you know you're in trouble." Despite the ordeal, she is set to release her ninth studio album, "Something Beautiful," on May 30, featuring 13 tracks.
The specific microorganism causing the infection remains unspecified, but the details suggest it was a serious bacterial infection that rapidly damaged tissue surrounding her knee. Though the infection was extremely challenging, she is reportedly recovering well.
