HarborView collaborates with ColorCreative to amplify the influential female narrative powerhouse

In a strategic move that signals a significant expansion of its portfolio, HarbourView Equity Partners has entered into a partnership with ColorCreative, the women-led production company co-founded by Issa Rae. This partnership marks HarbourView's first investment in a multicultural, women-led company and aligns with their strategy to invest in content platforms driven by creators.

As of 2023, HarbourView manages $2.67bn in regulatory assets and has been actively investing in content-driven businesses since its 2021 launch. The deal with ColorCreative is expected to propel HarbourView further into the realm of multicultural, creator-led content platforms.

ColorCreative, known for its role as a launchpad for cross-platform talent in scripted, unscripted, commercial, and event-driven content, aims to leverage this partnership to expand talent representation, enhance production capabilities, and accelerate the creation and ownership of original content. The first projects under the new structure are expected to go into production in early 2026.

Talitha Watkins will continue as president of ColorCreative, with Issa Rae providing creative and strategic guidance. Sherrese Clarke Soares, Founder and CEO of HarbourView, expressed her excitement about the partnership, stating that ColorCreative has the power to captivate audiences worldwide with bold, creatively-driven content, especially stories rooted in Black culture.

ColorCreative was founded in 2014 with a mission to close opportunity gaps for underrepresented creatives. Their success is evident in their recent production, One of Them Days, which became the top film at the box office on its release weekend and reached #1 on Netflix in April 2023. This achievement underscores ColorCreative's ability to produce content that resonates with audiences globally.

The partnership aims to support ColorCreative's transformation into a fully integrated, independent studio with global ambitions. With HarbourView's backing, ColorCreative is poised to roll out new projects starting early 2026, continuing to helm and support visionary and multifaceted storytelling, reflecting their broader commitment beyond just production.

HarbourView's involvement in ColorCreative also reinforces their mission to back scalable IP and culturally resonant storytelling. Currently, HarbourView has over 70 music catalogues and a growing footprint in media and entertainment. This partnership is a testament to their commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the creative industry, as they continue to build a stronger, more inclusive creative industry with initiatives like the #FindYourPeopleProgram.
