Genetech unveils innovative smartphone application designed for prostate cancer patients' aid
In a significant stride towards improving patient care and outcomes for prostate cancer, Camgenium, a leading digital health company, has announced the launch of HealthiumPro - a cloud-based software solution developed in partnership with Professor Petre Cristian Ilie 1.
HealthiumPro is designed to revolutionise the management of prostate cancer, a disease that is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men in the UK, with an expected 15% increase in incidence between 2023 and 2040 2.
The system, built on the flexible Xenplate platform, aims to enhance patient safety and streamline hospital operations. It offers a centralised stent database for logging and tracking stent insertions, prebuilt regulatory compliant modules, and a user-friendly app that allows patients to sign consent forms and receive pre-surgery information remotely 3, 4.
Moreover, HealthiumPro assists in automating surgical notes and correlates surgical data with patient-reported outcomes, providing clinicians with valuable insights to optimise treatment plans 5. The app also offers access to recommended pre-surgical physical exercises and allows clinicians to remotely monitor patients' blood pressure and temperature 6.
The HealthiumPro system has been developed with a focus on regulatory compliance, having obtained regulatory approval to host the system on the NHS private network, HSCN 7. This approval was obtained through Camgenium's own data centre, with the company working closely with the hospital's compliance team 8.
In a statement, Dr. Ilie emphasised that the partnership with Camgenium aims to improve patient safety, outcomes, and efficiencies in the hospital 9. Dr. Philip Gaffney, Camgenium's CEO, added that the company is honoured to have enabled the HealthiumPro system 10.
While specific details about the system's current widespread adoption, clinical impact, or detailed future projections have not been disclosed, HealthiumPro is ready for nationwide implementation in other healthcare settings 1. The system is compliant with ISO 13485, the regulatory standard for medical devices, ensuring the highest level of safety and quality 12.
As HealthiumPro continues to be implemented and refined, it promises to transform the way prostate cancer is managed and treated, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes and a higher quality of life for those affected by this disease.
