Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been diagnosed with skin cancer, according to his treating physician, Claudio Birolini. The diagnosis was made following a surgery on Sunday, during which two skin spots were removed.

The specific type of skin cancer has not been specified, but Birolini stated that it is neither the mildest nor the most aggressive form. The removed skin spots will require regular medical monitoring.

Bolsonaro was hospitalized due to nausea, dizziness, and low blood pressure. He spent a night in the hospital but was able to leave on Wednesday. However, he was hospitalized again on Tuesday for reasons not disclosed.

Before becoming president, Bolsonaro was treated for an injury from a stabbing attack during the 2018 presidential campaign, which required hospitalization and surgery. This incident has led to several subsequent medical complications.

Last week, Bolsonaro was sentenced to over 27 years in prison for his role in a coup attempt after his election defeat to his leftist successor Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. He is currently under house arrest.

No information has been provided regarding Bolsonaro's current treatment plan for the skin cancer. During his hospitalization, an examination revealed traces of a recent lung infection. The removed skin spots from the surgery tested positive for skin cancer.

The reason for Bolsonaro's sentence was his involvement in a coup attempt after his election defeat. He has been a controversial figure in Brazilian politics, known for his hardline conservative policies. His diagnosis and current situation have sparked debate and concern among Brazilians.
