Explore Art Healing Mental Health at Empire State Plaza

Albany residents and visitors are invited to explore a unique art exhibition at the Empire State Plaza Concourse before the end of May. The display, part of Mental Health Awareness Month, showcases works from the Living Museum at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens.

The Living Museum, established in 1983, spans 45,000 square feet and houses over 10,000 works of art. It provides a creative space for patients recovering from mental illness to express themselves and process their feelings. The current exhibition features 60 reproductions from this extensive collection.

Each piece of art is accompanied by a photo and personal statement from the artist, offering insight into their journey and experiences. The exhibition also includes a virtual gallery that can be explored online.

The exhibition at the Empire State Plaza Concourse is open through the end of May. It serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the power of art in recovery and healing. The Living Museum, under the guidance of Dr. Mitra Reyhani Ghadim, continues to provide a supportive space for artistic expression and personal growth.
