Executive-level healthcare officials gather for ECRI roundtable discussions focusing on patient safety and top-notch care delivery

In a series of virtual roundtables held by the ECRI Institute, 17 C-suite healthcare leaders from various health systems and associations gathered to discuss the challenges faced by healthcare leaders in prioritising patient safety.

The roundtable series, which took place over several months, aimed to explore issues such as shrinking resources, medical misinformation, and persistent causes of preventable harm. Marcus Schabacker, MD, PhD, and Dheerendra Kommala, MD moderated the discussions, providing a platform for candid insights and open dialogue.

The discussions focused on what drives and sustains patient safety and continuous improvement in the healthcare industry. The goal was to share best practices and break cycles that have long held the industry back. The ECRI Institute published the first in a series of articles from the ECRI C-Suite Roundtables containing these unfiltered insights on World Patient Safety Day in September 2021.

Participants in the roundtables included Rick Bassett, Richard Bates, Dana Bledsoe, Matthew Davis, Mindy Dunkerley, Michael Fiorina, Jonathan Gleason, Djana Harp, Omar Hasan, Mark Leahey, Kristie Lenze, Tara Jo Manal, William G. Morice II, Michael Seim, Anne Marie Watkins, Jacqueline Webb, and James Werth, Jr.

The white paper, published on World Patient Safety Day, is the first in a series of articles from the ECRI C-Suite Roundtables. It features insights from these healthcare leaders and can be downloaded from the ECRI Institute's website.

The roundtables provided a valuable opportunity for healthcare leaders to share their experiences and learn from each other, with the aim of improving patient safety and continuous improvement in the healthcare industry.
