**Mass Poisoning of Kindergarten Children in Gansu, China: Eight Suspects Detained**
A shocking incident of mass poisoning has been reported in Gansu Province, China, where 19 kindergarten children were found to have been exposed to dangerously high levels of lead. The investigation into this unfortunate event has led to the criminal detention of eight individuals, who are accused of producing toxic and harmful foods.
The joint investigative team, comprising experts from various departments, has been working tirelessly to uncover the truth behind this incident. They have collected over 200 samples from food, raw materials, and other items at the kindergarten in Tianshui, Gansu Province.
The source of the lead poisoning was traced to non-edible paint pigments that were illegally purchased online and added to some food items at the kindergarten. Two flour-based food samples, specifically pies and sausage rolls, were found to contain lead levels of 1,052 mg/kg and 1,340 mg/kg, far exceeding the national safety limit of 0.5 mg/kg.
The deliberate contamination of these food items led to severe health issues among the children, including hair loss, tooth discoloration, and other symptoms associated with lead poisoning.
In response to this incident, medical teams from Gansu and Shaanxi provinces have developed specialized treatment plans for the affected children. These include ongoing monitoring and chelation therapy, a standard treatment for lead poisoning.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for stricter food safety regulations in schools and childcare facilities. The kindergarten director was held criminally responsible during the investigation, and it is hoped that this tragic event will serve as a wake-up call for the importance of food safety and the consequences of negligence.
