She should not have children, but no one told her that - Danish Doctor Accused of 1976 Sexual Abuse in Greenland
A Danish doctor has been accused of sexual abuse by a Greenlandic woman, Naja Lyberth. The incident occurred in 1976 when Lyberth was around 13 or 14 years old and underwent a genital examination by the doctor on Maniitsoq, Greenland.
Lyberth has revealed that during the examination, the gynecologist inserted an object that she described as feeling cold and causing a sensation like knives cutting her from the inside. She felt ashamed and traumatized by the experience. The doctor, who has not been named, was found to have forcibly inserted an intrauterine device (IUD) without her consent. This incident is part of a larger pattern of abuse by the doctor, who has been accused of similar actions against other Greenlandic women during the same period.
The incident has been reported to the Danish police, and an investigation is underway. Lyberth hopes that her story will encourage other victims to come forward and seek justice. The Danish government has expressed its regret for the incident and has pledged to support the investigation and provide assistance to the victims.
