Münster Honours Local Heroes with Silver Town Hall Award

Two remarkable women, Margret Schwarze and Emmy Teupe, were recently honoured by the city of Münster for their exceptional dedication to the local community. The Silver Town Hall Award ceremony, held on September 17th at the Bürgerhalle, saw Mayor Markus Lewe present the accolade to the deserving duo.

Mayor Lewe spoke highly of both women during the ceremony, commending their courage, perseverance, and humanity. Margret Schwarze, a tireless advocate for people with multiple sclerosis, has dedicated over 30 years to supporting those affected by the autoimmune disease. Through her charity events, she has garnered significant support and donations for the local association of the German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG) in Münster and surrounding areas.

Emmy Teupe, on the other hand, began her philanthropic journey at the tender age of 11, raising funds for the Wunschwagen of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund. Over the years, she has organised numerous music events and auctions, with the help of various bands, to grant wishes to seriously ill people. Through her fundraising efforts, Emmy Teupe has managed to raise tens of thousands of euros for the Wunschwagen.

Emmy Teupe's early beginnings with the Wunschwagen fundraising are noteworthy. She started by collecting money for the service, which fulfils the wishes of seriously ill people, and has continued her efforts throughout her life. Margret Schwarze's dedication to the DMSG has also been unwavering, organising many benefit events in Münster.

This prestigious award recognises the profound impact these two women have had on the community of Münster. Their selfless acts of kindness and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others are truly inspiring.
