Cebu Expands Access to PhilHealth's Z Benefits for Earthquake Victims

Cebu's medical facilities, both private and public, now offer PhilHealth's Z Benefits for earthquake victims. This includes coverage for orthopedic implants, with expanded access through provisional accreditation. The Cebu City Health Office leads this initiative, ensuring timely and comprehensive care for affected individuals.

Previously, only accredited health care practitioners affiliated with contracted health facilities could perform surgeries and receive compensation. Now, all medical facilities in Cebu can provide these services, regardless of affiliation. This change ensures that more victims can access necessary surgeries and receive compensation.

The No Co-Pay policy further eases the financial burden on victims. It guarantees zero co-payment for those with eligible orthopedic injuries requiring implants. Additionally, the exemption from the 24-hour confinement rule allows for urgent orthopedic intervention without delay.

The provisional accreditation granted to the Cebu City Health Office expands access to Z Benefit packages for orthopedic implants. This means more victims can receive the care they need, even if they were affected before the official implementation date. The claims window has been extended to 120 calendar days from discharge, including retroactive coverage for up to 60 days before September 30.

These changes in Cebu's medical policies aim to provide comprehensive and timely care to earthquake victims. By expanding access to Z Benefits, exempting urgent cases from confinement rules, and extending the claims window, the government ensures that more individuals can receive the orthopedic care they need, with minimal financial burden.
