On July 10, a unique autograph album, once owned by Robert W. Campbell, a Liberal MP in Scotland, will be auctioned off at Anderson & Garland in Newcastle. The collection, estimated to sell for between £1,000 and £2,000, offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of numerous notable figures from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The album, brimming with letters, postcards, and signatures, boasts an extraordinary list of political figures, artists, military figures, and nobility. Among the prominent individuals represented are Charles Darwin, William Ewart Gladstone, Winston Churchill, and many others.

One of the most captivating pieces in the collection is a personal letter from Charles Darwin, written on headed paper from his home at Down House in Kent and dated 15th April. In this letter, Darwin thanks a person identified as 'Grove' for assisting in the legal placement of his son, George Howard Darwin, at Lincoln's Inn. This letter offers a rare and personal glimpse into the Darwin family's private affairs.

The album also includes letters from Helen and Stephen Gladstone, Wyke Bayliss, Sir Francis Carruthers Gould, John Morley, the Marquess of Lorne, the Earl of Rosebery, and George Nathaniel Curzon, among others.

Fred Wyrley-Birch, the Director and Auctioneer at Anderson & Garland, has commented that the album is one of the most extraordinary they've handled. He attributes this to the breadth of historic figures and the inclusion of a personal letter from Charles Darwin.

The auction of this fascinating collection promises to be a significant event for history enthusiasts and collectors alike. The prominence of the figures included suggests substantial historical and collector interest, although no exact valuation has been provided in the available information.

The album's inclusion of a personal letter from Charles Darwin, a renowned scientist, sheds light on the medical- condition of his son, George Howard Darwin, as articulated in the letter. The diverse range of notable figures in the collection, including Charles Darwin, also encompass a variety of health-and-wellness advocates, such as William Ewart Gladstone, known for his social reforms.
